So me and the kids are stuck here at the house, for the 4th day in row, due to a major storm. All morning long we have been listening to music, while the AppleTV scrolls through our pictures ... and it got me to think.

I know everything happens for a reason, but really? Are Chik & I, out of our minds?? How could we go from this

WOW...

is the one word that comes to my mind, when I think about this past year. 2011 was definitely a big one, for us Carbajal's. There were so MANY big life changes and during it all we managed to stay healthy, alive, and semi sane.

We have been exposed to many more cultures, experienced coastal life and that awesome San Diego weather (oh how I miss that weather), met many many new great people, and was able to catch up and spend some time with great old friends.

During 2011 ... we shed many tears, said a few good bye's (just a few ha ha), and have donated so many unused items ... we could have opened our own store.

We lived in 3 different states, sold a house, and rented 2.

For me personally, it has been a year of highs and lows. Whether it was packing on the pounds and dealing with post pardum, or getting to meet this sweet little man (definitely my highlight)!

For someone who isn't good at change, 2011 was a bit of a challenge, but I must admit ... I think I handled it pretty darn well!!

The Trek

Our last move of the year, was a big one. A very big one, indeed. We went from the very south ... San Diego, to the very north ... Seattle. We drove 1300 miles, over a 4 day span, in two vehicles, with 3 very good children.

Christmas

To put it simply, Christmas this year was "SPECIAL," and if it wouldn't have been for the kiddos ... it probably would have been non existent. So thank you to my kids for making sure we had some Christmas spirit.

The reason December was so interesting, is because we were packing and packing, and getting ready for our final move of the year. This last move occurred a few short days after Christmas and so half of our Christmas was spent with the decorations up, while the rest of the day was spent taking them down.

For Thanksgiving this year, we headed to my parent's in Utah. We endured a very long 15 hour drive, in the car. OK, it actually wasn't that bad. At least to me anyway. I for one, would much rather just do some hardcore driving and get it all over with in one day, then EVER EVER have another Primm episode. My kids were born to road trip, and have spent more time traveling then most adults have throughout their lifetime, so of course they did great! As for the husband ... well lets just put it this way ... he made it :)

So whether we head to my parent's for Thanksgiving or for Christmas, the guys have an on going tradition of going rabbit hunting. Each year, they all load up and trek through the snow in their winter get up, and then they stop at some dive restaurant on the way home. Once they get back, all us girls hear them talk about is this fabulous hunting trip. Well, this year (I don't know why it took us soooo long) we decided that we would have a little day of our own.

Now for all of you who are just dying to know what we did, well ... all you need to know is that we had A LOT of fun and took every minute out of that day we could, so those daddy's could have lots of bonding time with their children.

While in Utah, me and Cameron also threw Kim a shower. Didn't Cameron do an AWESOME job on the diaper cake! It turned out absolutely adorable. We can't wait for Miss London, so show her sweet face!!

On to Thanksgiving. The main event!

This little man, pretty much rocks my world. He is now 7 month old, loves to giggle, roll around the house, eat, and watch his sisters. He hardly ever cries, and love to cuddle with his daddy.

Olivia

Olivia is my little spazz. She is always so full of life, a free spirit, and knows what she wants and wants it right now. She is my curly haired, thumb sucking, sweetheart ... who can run in heels better then I could ever dream of.

Hannah

She is sweet, so smart, and the best big sister. She loves to socialize, draw, and could be a super good "couch potato" if I allowed :) Note: this little lady has the most pretty, huge, blue eyes you will ever see. People used to think that Chiki and I would scare her before taking her pictures, when she was a baby because her eyes were always so wide open

My Little Beauty Turns 7

My Hannah Banana turned 7, at the beginning of October. I know every parent says this with each child's birthday, but man ... I really can't believe that Hannah is 7. Seems like it was just yesterday she entered into out lives, and boy have we been blessed ever since! She is such a sweet, little lady. We have laughed together, cried together, and have fought our many battles with each other ... and we haven't even reached the teenage years yet. I know right. Wish me luck :)

We kept the festivities simple this year. Our cute little neighbor really wanted to make Hannah some birthday cupcakes, so we had the baker Miss Kennedy over and her mom over for pizza. It was one big party. Someone was really smart and bought the ladies, each their own horns to blow. There is a high possibility that the rest of us party goers, may have suffered a little bit of hearing loss.

Cabrillo National Monument

Chiki & I wanted to take the ladies, somewhere to check out some tide pools. Since there are only two areas within the San Diego area that has them, we headed to the one place we hadn't been ... Cabrillo National Park.

The park is located on Point Loma, and costs only $5 to enter and has some of the most stunning views of the city, but if you are looking for a great place with the kiddos ... this is not the place for you. Unfortunately the tide pools were closed and so all that was left, was to hike around and read about the history of the area. And for those of you who have kids, know just how enjoyable and relaxing that can be. Sarcasm ... much, much sarcasm.

Finally, some visitors! In September, my parents decided to venture our way. Not only were we super excited to see them, but also ... it gave us another excuse to play tourist. They were out here for an entire week, and so we were able to pack quite a bit in.

Olivia's Birthday

Liv's birthday, was way back in July. July 4th to be exact, and yep ... you read correctly. I am ever so slightly behind, and just a little all over the place when it comes to my blog.

I am proud of myself. I made Olivia's cake this year, and don't you think I have come a LONG way!

Del Mar Race Track

Back before school started, Chiki had a weekday off ... so we decided to check out the race track in Del Mar. The season only lasts from July through September, running everyday but Mondays and Tuesdays.

Although Chiki & I didn't place any bets, we still had a great time. As for the kids, we loaded them down with snacks and so of course they also had a great time!

Beach Days

We have been doing a whole lot of hanging out on the BEACH, these days. There are so many, and each has their own beautiful highlights!

Awhile back, me & my friend who go way back, decided to get our two families together. We headed up their way, near Laguana Beach. Our first stop was Del Ray Beach, so the boys could do a little surfing. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch any good pictures. Trust me, it was a lot of work watching the guys paddle in and out ... in and out ... in and out. I was so worn out :) The BEACH there was so rocky, the kids mainly played in the sand.

Later that day, we headed to Montage Beach, which was absolutely gorgeous. The sand was soft, the scenery beautiful, and the kiddos loved the tide pools. Thanks Fischer family for the good times!

Here is a picture of the husband getting ready for his night dive at La Jolla Shores. Although I was a little jealous that he was getting in a dive, and I was not ... after hearing his experience, I am pretty sure night diving isn't for me.

Going to the BEACH, just isn't all about fun in the sun. There are many other activities ... picnics, kite flying, listening to the waves, strolling on the board walks, etc

As you can see, living near the BEACH can truly be exhausting!

That pretty much, sums up my relationship with my blog over the past few months. But I have been MIA with good cause. After all ... me and the husband had been living apart since January, I had a baby, sold a house, and moved across 3 states. Not to mention, moved into a place that made camping seem a lot more appealing (and for those of you who really know me, know how much I absolutely love to camp).

Hannah finished Kindergarten, Olivia finished her 1st year of preschool, and Tyler is growing like a weed. As for me and Chiki ... we are taking our tasks one day at a time, until we finally feel like things are in order :)

Because of the closing date of the condo, the ladies were not able to quite finish their school year. Liv's teachers were so sweet, and had her class put on a special performance of their graduation program. I loved our personal performance. Not only were all the kids looking at us, but also we didn't have to dodge the heads of all the tall people who always get to sit in the front row!

As for Hannah, we was not so lucky, and missed her kindergarten graduation. Her teacher was so sweet, and made sure we got all of Hannah's awards and books by the last day

In between the Colorado and California transition, we made a stop at my parents in Utah. While there we had Ty blessed.

We all know that Chiki is somewhat of a clown. So when he kept saying that he was going to have to wear his flip flops with his suit because he didn't know where his dress shoes were at. None of us took him serious. Needless to say .... we were all WRONG

Tyler is getting so big. He is 3 months old, and weighs about 15 lbs. He thinks he needs to be eating every waking minute, is a pro at holding up his head, exer-saucing, and sleeps a fabulous 12+ hours each night. We are absolutely loving, our chubby little man!

Hannah was so excited to have her friends Matti and Marcus come out for a visit. Matti and Marcus are twins, and they were all great friends throughout this past school year. We went to dinner with their family, and then they stole Hannah for the next 24 hours. She was in absolute heaven, and really misses her friends :(

The other day, we decided to take a break from the house and headed to the beach. We came home with sand filled booties, a very sunburned mommy and daddy (oops I guess we too need sun screen), and 3 tired kiddos who loved playing in the sand and water.

To The Condo!

The Little Man In My Life

This past week, has been a GREAT one! It all started late last Thursday night, when the hubby came home. Two months is a long time to be apart, and me & the ladies were excited to finally have him home!!

The plan, was to be induced on the 25th of March at 6 pm. Nature and the little man, thought otherwise. I started to feel contractions a few hours before I picked up Chiki from the airport. Contractions SUCK, but I was so excited that the baby waited for daddy ... and couldn't help but laugh about the whole situation. The little man pretty much took his time, and I held off going to the hospital until around 4 pm. Only a few hours before the scheduled induction. Little man was born at 7:30, and the rest was history!

Needless to say, after months of worrying about daddy not being there ... things happened the way they were supposed to and I couldn't ask for anything more.

I am pretty sure that this little man, should get the best baby award. Not only have I only heard him cry once (yep, that's right ... he just squawks), but he also sleeps at least 6 hours through the night. Chiki & I are just waiting. Things are running, way too smooth with little Ty!

On a side note, me & Chiki are a slight mess, and would probably leave you rolling with laughter if you were to watch us. We had to run and buy a new car the other day, so we could all go somewhere at the same time. For some odd reason, I was pretty sure we could all fit in the TSX. Boy was I wrong. After days of taking turns running around by our lonesomes, we couldn't take it anymore and finally caved yesterday ... which leads into a whole other issue. You would have thought that Chiki & I were first time parents from the disasters we were, when leaving the house yesterday with little man. Who needs a bottle, wipes, extra diapers. None of those are very important ... right :)

Anyhow, things are great. I am loving getting to know sweet little Tyler, watching the ladies with him, and having the husband around!

I Have a Confession

The reason I didn't post one with all the Valentine stuff, is because I have a little confession to make.

Dear Chiki,

A few days before Valentine's Day, I got a call. This call came from a girl, who was looking for Martin Carbajal. She was calling from Edible Arrangements, and had some questions for Kirsten's Valentine delivery. Needless to say, I was very excited and I started to freak out on the phone. And because I HAD to hear it again to make sure I was hearing correctly, I asked the lady if she would repeat what she had just said. I then, kept saying "that's me, that's me." I realized that I may be getting a little out of control, when Olivia gave me the weirdest look and asked me what was wrong. Anyhow, I tried to contain myself and asked the lady if she would like the number to reach him directly. From the tone of her voice, I couldn't tell if she was mortified because she had just given away a secret, or thought that I was a complete idiot. I am leaning more towards my second guess :)

Either way Chiki, heads up or no heads up ... I was very excited to rip into my Edible Arrangement. Between me & the ladies, we polished that baby off by day 2!

Valentine's Day With My Ladies!

Me & the ladies, had a fun filled Valentine's Day this year!

It all started out in the afternoon. Me & Olivia headed to Hannah's school, to help out with the big VDay party. It was so cute, because Hannah was so excited to have us there and needless to say ... we were just as excited to be there. I love seeing the ladies doing their own thing, outside of the house.

The teacher was so kind, and asked if Olivia could join the party goers. Needless to say, she was in 7th heaven!

After we got done at Hannah's school, me & the ladies headed over to the nail salon for some MUCH needed toe attention. Miss Liv opted for paint only, but me & Hannah wanted the works. It was hilarious, because Hannah kept turning to me to tell me how relaxed she was feeling and wanted to come in everyday. I just kept telling her "Don't we all little lady ... don't we all!"

Daddy, always spoils us on Valentine's Day. The ladies absolutely love getting their own flowers! Liv got this cute little lady bug pot. I am still trying to install in that little brain of hers, that this is not a purse but a plant. In order for it to stay alive, we cannot cart it around everywhere we go. And Daddy, Hannah also LOVES her rose earrings. She hasn't taken them off, since we first put them on!

All I have to say, is that I have two of the cutest dates around!

Since Olivia goes to preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we got to party it up two days in a row. Not only was she excited that she would finally be getting her "own" bag of Valentine's (OK, we all know she just really wanted all the candy), but they were also having a Grandparent's Valentine Tea. Luckily, Olivia let me & Hannah come be the grandparent stand In's. I felt so young, hanging out with all the Gma's & Gpa's ha ha.

Last weekend while Hannah was at her cheer clinic, me & Miss Liv got to spend a little bit of time together. These times never come often enough, but whatever little time we can get in makes for a whole lot of memories.
I loved every minute of it!

My ... what a cute lunch date I had!

We spent most of our afternoon, playing with dolls. It was so much fun watching her dress and undress, pull the hair up and then comb down, talk about how smart the dolls look in their glasses, etc. Olivia LOVES LOVES LOVES to pretend, and it was absolutely hilarious watching her be mommy to her teenager (yep ... that is how old her doll was that day:))

I know we are already into the month of February, but if I were to make a New Year's Resolution ... it would be to spend more one on one time with each of my ladies. They are fun to watch play together, but I also love watching their personalities pop when they are alone.

Hannah The Cheerleader

Last weekend, Hannah did a cheer clinic at the nearby high school. She did it with this little lady, Mattison. They had such a good time, and Hannah was so excited to do this ... she was even telling the checker at the grocery store all about it. Also, anyone else that would listen :)

After completing the clinic, each of the girls were invited to come back to the next basketball game and do a halftime show. Hannah loves to perform, and was in absolute heaven!

Princess Tea Party

Daddy, since you are gone ... this post is for you!

The ladies were invited to a Princess Tea Party birthday party, over this past weekend. Not only did they have an absolute blast, but each were very excited that they were able to go out in public in their princess attire.

No doubt about it, this party was a big hit with the ladies. It was held at a local bakery, where the ladies were allowed to drink lemonade out of real china, eat tea style sandwiches along with veges and chocolate covered strawberries, and then topped off the party with each getting to decorating their own cupcakes with the works. Seriously, what more could a little lady ask for? No child left with a frown on their face!

It Is What It Is

It's amazing, how quickly life can change. Not even a month ago ... we went from having a completely packed schedule, with parties, school functions, and being surrounded by lots of people. This month ... Chiki now lives in California, I feel like an exhausted nasty blob, and me & the ladies have to search for things to do.

We have since changed Realtors, in hopes to have better luck selling the condo. It is snowy, ugly and cold outside. My fridge looks like a bachelor lives here, I have projects all around house that need to get done and no desire to do them, and I can't bare to go in my own room because most of Chiki's stuff is gone :(

This is definitely a test for me. I am a planner, and like to have everything all planned out. With this, we have to take things as they come, and I am relearning the meaning of patience.

Things won't always be like this, and who knows ... a few years down the road we might even be able to look back and laugh. And until we can get this dang condo sold ... I do have the ladies to keep me laughing, all the while they get to keep their schedules and friends. We are also having fun getting ready for the arrival of baby brother!

But seriously people ... keep your fingers, toes and anything else crossed for us that the right person will be knocking on our door soon, and feel free to stop by for a visit because me and the ladies would love to see you!

Chiki & I brought in the New Year, by attending our annual Bronco football game. This year we chose the Jan 2nd vs San Diego game, and it was absolutely freezing. We were more then prepared this game wearing snow pants, thermals, blankets, the works ... along with taking hand and feet warmers. Before the game we saw people walking around in nothing but long sleeved t-shirts, and they were making comments about how warmly dressed we were. Not even by half time, people were freezing their booties off. I overheard the guy next to me, talk about how bad he was freezing and he hadn't even been there 10 minutes. Seriously people ... this is Colorado, and it pays to be prepared ha ha.

Anyhow, no surprise ... the Broncos lost but all in all, it ended up being a pretty close game and nothing beats the atmosphere. Especially, when you are only rows behind the team!

Merry Christmas

Christmas this year, was a lot of fun. We got the pleasure of sharing it with one 6 year old, and two 3 year olds, while staying at Gma's & Gpa's in Utah. How much more excitement can you ask for!

We stayed for an entire week, got in lots and lots of relaxing, and of course ... did WAY TOO MUCH eating.

Even our little elf Elfy, made the trip to Utah. The ladies were so surprised to find him sitting on Gma & Gpa's mantel, when we first walked in their door. He brought the kiddos their Christmas jammies the night before, so they could open their presents in style!

The kiddos left two plates of cookies, and two glasses of milk for Santa. Also, Hannah left a carrot for the reindeer. They must have been hungry because all was gone the next day:)

Since we stayed for one week, we were able to get in a few other things besides just Christmas festivities. We got to help celebrate Aunt Kim's birthday, and Cousin Austin's birthday. We were able to meet up with my Cousin Merrick and his famillia, and do some major catching up with them. We even got in a little ice skating. And when I say we ... I mean everyone else got in some ice skating. I had to sit on the sidelines this year, which wasn't quite the same. Next time people ... next time!

Cousin Austin's turned 3 on the 31st of December, so we went and lived it up Austin style this year for New Year's Eve. We had a GREAT time! The kids got to dress up in their best train gear, and played pin the number on the train. Aunt Cameron had tons and tons of munchies, and even got a totally awesome Thomas The Train Cake. Chiki & I finally made it to watch Trans Siberian Orchestra, this year. We have been wanting to go for years, but it has always been at a not so good time for us. It was AWESOME, and we were definitely not disappointed. The performers were great, and knew how to put on a good show!

One Fabulous Weekend, is the only way to sum up this past week! Not only did Chiki graduate from CU Boulder, but we had Olivia's preschool Christmas program, and the ladies Christmas dance recital.

Later that evening, the family arrived to help celebrate Chiki's graduation. I just have to say that Chiki is absolutely amazing. Not only did he work a full time job, help take care of a family, rarely get a summer vacation nor a weekend, but also had to worry about things that you can't even imagine, and keep me happy :). All the while trying to maintain his sanity, while going to school. I am so so so proud of my new Electrical Engineer!

My sister Kim also graduated this past week. Her school only has it's graduation services in the Spring, and she is choosing not to wait and walk. So of course we had to include her in all the festivities! We concocted this AWESOME cake of Kim & Chiki. Look close ... absolutely hilarious! Kim's head was put on a picture Cameron, when she graduated from college. Chiki's picture ... well that is just a super hilarious story that if you want to know about ... ask us and we will fill you in. Ha ha ha ha, I can't help but laugh just thinking about it :)

A Weekend In Aspen

We got the opportunity to go to Aspen, for Chiki's work. Since we were going to Montrose ( no pics because the cameraman forgot to take some) to spend Thanksgiving with his family, this worked out great since it would be on our way home anyway. We were there Friday through Sunday, and got in lots of relaxation. Our hotel was great, we got to watch a little bit of the World Cup for the women's downhill slalom, there were fireworks off the mountainside, the ladies got to play in the snow, we ate ice cream while sitting out by the fire (Liv's idea), and did about the only kid friendly activity there was to do ... make pizzas!

I am not really sure what planet the residents of Aspen, have come from because they are really out there. But if you have yet to visit, I highly recommend going because the scenery is absolutely gorgeous!

Since me and Jessie have birthdays within weeks of each other, we thought that there would be no better way to ring in the BIG 30 ... then to run a 1/2 marathon together. She came out for the Bolder Boulder in May, and so it was my turn to go to her in L.A.

Being the runner that I am (sarcasm, lots and lots of sarcasm), I had myself on a really good 12 week training program. It didn't seem too bad for the first little while. I was feeling really good and able to keep a good pace for myself. I was getting pretty confident, that I was going to be able to pull this baby off. That is, until I hit about the halfway point. All heck broke loose after that. Not only did I come down with a nasty cold that should have required antibiotics, but I also found out that I was no longer training for one ... but two. Between the side affects of a cold and not being able to take anything for it and feeling nauseated, I was about ready to throw in the towel. But with lots of crying, and a hubby making fun of me ... I had no choice but to prove to him that I wasn't a sissy. So, with the Dr's consent ... I pushed on.

We had one crazy morning, the morning of the race. It included a flat tire, a AAA guy who didn't know how to read directions on how to get down the spare, and one really non morning bee-och (yep that was me). By the time we got rolling again on the almost flat doughnut tire ... we barely had time to drive to the start, run to the restrooms, and start our leg. If you thought it was all smooth sailing from there ... boy were you wrong. We had barely reached the 1 mile marker, when some girl decided to cut all the way over from one side to the next to throw away some garbage and tripped me. Still being in Bee-och mode, the girl was lucky I didn't sock her one. All in all, me and Jess survived that morning, and did lots of laughing about it all later.

I don't know if I would necessarily recommend training for a 1/2 marathon while pregnant, but I am really happy that I did it and am actually planning on doing another. That is, sometime after the little man is born!

Tres The Action

Since Halloween fell on a Sunday this year, that meant that the state of Utah would be doing their celebrating on Saturday. So the plan was to make a super quick trip to do some trick-or-treating with little cuz on Saturday, and then head back to Colorado for some trick-or-treating with daddy-o, Sunday night. I know what you are thinking ... holy candy ... and you are so right, but the best part was that we got to spend Halloween with lots of people!

Friday, was the day that me and the ladies packed up the car and headed to Utah. As soon as we got to Gma's and Gpa's, we were welcomed with yummy homemade doughnuts. What a way to start off the weekend, right? They were absolutely delish, but the healthy eating quickly spiraled downhill from there ha! After Aunt Cam and little cuz got to the house, we packed the kids up and headed to Uncle Jer's work for some trick-or-treating. By the way Uncle Jer ... we hope that you had a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Since our buckets were pretty much filled at Uncle Jer's work and it was raining outside, we decided that we would dress up and take the kids to a few houses around my parent's neighborhood, and then hit Gpa Scott and Gma Jan's (Cameron's parents) and the great grandparents. All I have to say Cameron, is you and I make some HOT witches:)!

Early Sunday morning, me and the ladies packed up the car once again and headed back to Colorado. We made it back in just the right amount of time to relax and then go do a little trick-or treating with Chiki.

We experienced some crazy weather this year. Rain and coats in Utah (honestly cannot remember it ever raining on Halloween), to not even having to wear jacket in Colorado. But rain, snow, wind, sun ... we had a great Halloween this year. Thanks for letting us spend it with you all you Utah folk, and seriously if you just happen to run out of candy within the near future ... stop by because we have candy coming out of our ears!

My parent's had been planning on coming out for the Bananer's birthday for awhile, as for the Cam's and little cuz ... that was a complete surprise. And let's just put it this way, it was a GREAT surprise!

Since this might be their final trip out here in the fall, we decided to take one last trip up to Estes Park. Out of all the places I will miss the most in Colorado, it will be this place :( We have had an annual pass for a few years now, and just absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it up there.

This trip through Rocky Mountain Park, was pretty entertaining. For those of you who have been to Yellowstone/Jackson Hole area, know how ridiculous people can be when their is a possible sighting of an animal ... no matter the animal. Although I did get to see my first bear in the wild, you can only get that oohing and awing feeling over the first 100 elk, deer, rams ... I think you get the picture. Anyhow, I swear the next time we visit the park, I am going to just have Chiki pull over and we can all make a fuss over a tree just to see how many people will practically run off the road and make a complete idiot out of themselves just to see what we are looking at. Don't believe me ... I might just have to make a video to prove the circus that occurs.

The famillia was out here for a few days, and so we decided to also do a little mini golf. This time, Chiki was able to go with. We had tons of fun, and it was great because the mini golf area was pretty much vacant, so we got to take our sweet time.

Hannah Turns 6!

On October 5th, the oldest of my little ladies turned 6! Can you believe it ... Miss Thing is now 6!!

She had such a great day. It all started out, with her being able to wear her outfit that Gpa & Gma let her pick out all by her lonesome. I have quite the shopper on my hands, and she new exactly what she wanted to get. After getting all beautified for the day (thanks to Aunt Cameron), she got to take treats to school and celebrate with her friends. After school, we let the birthday partying begin. Here she is at the opening of presents. I am so mean and made her wait until later afternoon, so all the party goers could be there and watch.

After presents ... it was mani and pedi time. My little lady likes to be pampered, and so I thought it would be fun to get some birthday beautifying done

Hannah's dinner of choice was at Dave & Busters. Well I guess I should say her option was Dave & Busters ha ha. If it would have been up to her, we would have ended up at good' ol Chuckee Cheese. So we didn't really let her choose, but she still got to get in some game playing (me & Chiki can be so mean). A good time was had by all!

Now onto the cake. Hannah wanted a Halloween themed birthday, and so this is the cake I came up with. I must say .... much improvement has been made since last year's barbie cake flop. She absolutely loved it, and in my books ... that is all that matters!

My Hannah Banana has really blossomed into a self-sufficient, beautiful person. And although she really knows how to flaunt the sass these days ... not a day goes by that I am not thankful she was brought into my life!

Just Dance

Olivia has had a lot of firsts this week. Tuesday was her first day of preschool, and today was her first day of dance. This poor little lady has been dying to start both, ever since she could comprehend all the things that her big sister was doing. In other words, there was no shying away or shedding of tears on her part when it came to me leaving. Liv, just jumped right into each activity like she was an old pro. I am so excited for her, and can't wait to see her progress throughout the year, in both!

Miss Liv Starts School

Olivia has officially started school, at the big P. Preschool that is. Since Hannah started 3 weeks ago, she has been very anxious to start for herself, and finally today was her day. Olivia jumped right out of bed and was willing to eat breakfast and get ready, faster then I have ever seen her move. Seriously ... it was truly amazing!

Officially A College Student

It's official people .... Chiki can finally say that he is a TRUE college student. After many years of coaxing, he finally got us tickets to the big CU vs. CSU game. And of course, it was a great game because CU won.

This past weekend, I got the privilege of surprising my family in Utah by showing up for my Grandpa's 80th birthday party. Unfortunately, not all of the Carbajal crew could come ... but it was definitely worth the quick trip. I am pretty sure that every time I looked over at my Gpa, he was sporting a perma-grin. And although we were missing my cousin Stuart, who is on a mission in D.C., it has been a while since we have even had this many of the family together. It was a GREAT night!

While Sulema & crew, were out here ... we thought that we would show these sea level dwellers some true elevation. Therefor, we headed to Rocky Mountain National Park . It is always a favorite place of mine. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and is so serene.

There is a road that is only open from May until October called Trail Ridge Road. It is the highest continuous road in the United States, and at the highest point reaches 12,183 ft

If you watch the show Man vs. Food on the Travel channel, you will be excited for this post! There we were in Boulder one night talking about the show, and realized wait ... what the heck ... didn't they just do a show in Boulder about hot wings? After a little bit of research .... sure enough!

Sam, being the totally awesome person that he is ... let us all talk him into it.

The challenge: to eat 50 wings within 30 minutes

The prize: your picture on their wall of fame, a t-shirt, 10 free bonus wings, and your first 50 wings on the house

The manager brought out a timer for Sam, and off he went. Look close ... those wings are giant and not to mention were also a little tough.

When the 30 minutes came to an end, Sam had eaten 26 out of the 50 wings. That is when we found out that Adam from Man vs Food, also had a hard time conquering the task. Apparently, he only made it through half.

Sam stated that the hardest part of eating the wings, wasn't the heat but the loads of butter that was used in the wing sauce. It coated his entire mouth, making it hard to swallow. Thanksgiving dinner is going to seem super healthy to him, after this ha ha.

Last week, we were excited to have cousins Allie & Bri come out to play. We started the trip out right, at the American Girl Store. Chiki & I have been telling the ladies since the store opened in Denver, that they could get some dolls when their cousins came out. For Hannah, this day couldn't have come soon enough.

I guess this activity was more so for Hannah, because Olivia didn't really care about the process (the fact that it was nap time probably didn't help). Both girls chose, to make their own look alike. Hannah's doll has dark brown hair, insanely blue eyes, and pierced ears. As for Olivia's doll ... we came as close to her as we could. Her doll has lighter brown hair, blue eyes, and we bought the hair set to make her hair curly. Both dolls are really cute!

July 4th

My little lady turned 3 on, the 4th of July. Whoever came up with the term terrible 2's, was full of crap. Not only does the naughtiness last throughout the entire age of 2, but continues on and even gets worse at 3. Olivia is the biggest sassafras, is great at throwing tantrums, and knows how to push peoples buttons .... but you can't help but LOVE this girl. She may be naughty but one look into her big blue eyes, hearing her say "pwetty pwease," or one big hug from this cute little cuddle bug ... will absolutely melt your heart. Through good times and naughty times, we are happy she is in our family

We decided to start the party off right at the White Fence Farm. It is this really cute old-fashioned, farm style restaurant. They have a playground, craft shops, farm animals, a snack bar, carriage rides, and yummy country style. We had a great time!

Funny story: just above the snack bar, is also a kiddy play area. We thought that Jeremiah and Chiki were upstairs "keeping an eye" on the ladies, and so the rest of us decided to kick back and relax and try some of the old-fashioned sodas. These sodas were beyond carbonated. While we were downstairs burping it up, the guys were upstairs snoring away on the couches.

Since we had just gotten back from Utah, I didn't have the chance to put my skills to the test and make another cake. Instead, we chose ice cream cupcakes from Cold Stone. As for myself, I didn't eat one (we all know why), but they looked delish!

At the end of June, we took a quick trip to Utah to get some family pictures taken. Chiki could only stay for a few days, but me and the ladies decided to stay a little while longer. We were so excited to find out that the ladies cousin Austin, would be spending the entire time with us.

We had an absolute blast with little cuz. The kiddos ate many shaved ices, jumped on the tramp, and even got in a few water parties. I am used to having two high pitched ladies around who love their babies and love to play barbies, it was funny to hear a little scruffy boy voice who spent most of his time growling and making tractor noises.

Gma & Gpa took these 3 to church all by their lonesome, and survived ha ha

One of the days, we had a water party with my cousin Jessica and her two little ones Matt & Addison. They spent the day slip'n'sliding and basking in the warm pool water.

This is how the Carbajal's have been spending their Saturday mornings ... at Lowe's building projects. The projects are very simple and usually don't take any longer then 20 minutes to build, but are perfect for their attention spans.

For spring break this year, Chiki & Hannah went on their own little trip to see some of the famillia. The destination: Bend, Oregon to see Aunt Sulema, cousins Allison & Brianna, Nana & to meet the newest soon to be member of the Carbajal crew ... Uncle Sam. The object: for Hannah to play as hard as possible, and for Chiki to do as little as possible. The outcome: much success for each + some!

Off With Her Thumb

I will be the first to admit that seeing this cute pose, completely makes my heart melt. Little Miss Olivia + her thumb = much cuteness. That is until we went for a dental visit yesterday. Now Little Miss Olivia + her thumb = mucho messed up teeth.

CHRISTMAS

Another Christmas has come and gone, and yet again ... it was GREAT! Since we were going to be all by our lonesome and my parents were going to be all by their lonesome, they decided to head our way and spend the holiday with us.

We had an absolute blast with them! We ate lots of food, we watched lots of movies, did lots of laughing, and got in some good'ol relaxing!!

Since Gma & Gpa got here right before Christmas, we thought it would be fun to go to Hammond's, and do the candy tour. They make all sorts of yummy candy canes, chocolates, marshmallows, and old-fashioned ribbon candy. Seeming how candy canes are a big deal around Christmas time ... it is always fun to go and see how they are made, especially right before Santa comes!

Since Santa is always getting cookies, the ladies each picked out a doughnut at Krispy Kreme. And as usual, they each chose the one with the most sprinkles. Ummmm, I am pretty sure Santa was excited!

Christmas morning was lots of fun. Hannah was so excited. After she realized that Santa had come ... she ran around the house yelling while Olivia followed, trying to figure everything out. Hannah had all of her presents opened within a matter of minutes. As for Miss Livi ... she wanted to save every piece of paper, every bow, and even the curly ribbon.

The ladies got lots of fun stuff. Dress up outfits, barbie stuff, babies, books, projects, and even a new kitchen (apparently we have yet to take a pic of the cute, little red kitchen).

Thanksgiving Fun

I am slightly behind on my Thanksgiving post. But we had so much fun, that I couldn't forget about it.

Every other year, we spend Thanksgiving with my family in Utah. It is always nice to get away from the busy, city life every now and again, and this year was definitely no exception.

To my surprise, Chiki's school gave the students an entire week off for the holiday. So the Saturday before, we packed everything up and off we went.

Because we had an entire week to relax and play ... that is exactly what we did!

As always, we had an absolute blast! Thanksgiving dinner was GREAT, Austin & Livi followed each other around like a little old couple, Hannah hung out with the "old" people (my baby is all grown up), I got lots and lots of socks at the sock sale, and Chiki & I got to go to a movie. Not just any old movie ... a grown up movie ha!!

Halloween

Halloween is one of my most favorite holidays, especially with little kids. They all look to cute in their costumes!

Here is what we dressed up as this year:

To our surprise Olivia kept her costume on most of the night, Hannah was in absolute heaven being dressed as a princess and wearing make up (not a shocker), Chiki's wig and hat only last about an hour, and many people thought I was a Trick or Treater in my teens ... I may be short people but that doesn't mean that I am 12.

We had a good time sporting our costumes, and also seeing what everyone else was dressed up as.

To those people who stole our pumpkin candles ... at least save us the hassle of having to make the walk with the heavy pumpkins to the dumpster, and just take it all!

I never thought that I would come home from a vacation weighing less then I did before leaving, but hey what can you say when all you did was continuously walk up and down hills :) Jessie should hands down win some sort of award for always wearing her various cute, ever so high stiletto boots. We had so much fun whether it was laughing at the hotel guests who used their balcony as a clothes line, the old man standing in plain site in his tighty whites each morning, the MANY candy trips, my farting bed, Subway boy - wink wink Jess, the Italian paparazzi - another wink, wink Jess, sitting around the fire pit, sore hamstrings, etc. We had an absolutely fabulous time, and I can't wait to plan our next trip!!

Hannah's Birthday Weekend

Hannah Bananers turned the Big 5 October 5th, and boy did we celebrate her birthday in style!

Chiki & I decided to wait til the ladies each turned 5 years old, to have their first friend party. Hannah had been counting down the days until her big bash for awhile, and wanted to invite anyone and everything.

We decided to celebrate with some roller skating - princess themed of course. Most of the party goers were skating for their first time, but boy did they all do a great job. Even Miss Olivia, who kept insisting on skating without assistance.

Next, on the agenda ... piercing Hannah's ears. We have been telling her for years that she had to wait until her 5th birthday to get her ears pierced. Chiki and I actually had been trying to convince her to get them done for a few months now, but she kept telling us that she won't be ready until her birthday. So to our surprise, she told us that she would be ready right after her birthday party. And that is where we headed after the bash.

Finally, the big day rolled around. Hannah chose to party it up with Miss Livi for lunch, at the great McDonald's. This girl loves chicken nuggets and french fries, and would eat them for every meal if I would let her.

Later that evening we dove into Hannah's barbie cake. This baby was such a pain in the butt to make, but was worth every moment of stress because Hannah absolutely loved it

Our little Hannah, is no longer so little. She is growing more and more everyday, and I mean that literally. She only wears a few shoe sizes below me.

Hannah is definitely maturing into a fine young lady, and I wish her daddy much needed luck when we reach the high school days!!

Growing Up

I am feeling a little emotional today and here is why : usually when I drop Hannah off at preschool, she runs in way ahead of me. Not even acknowledging me as I leave the building. Today, to my surprise ... she came running over to me to tell me that she loves me and that she wanted to give me a "BIG HUG."

I am sure her teacher thought that I am some sort of blubbering idiot because while Hannah was giving me my hug, I couldn't help but get a bit teary eyed. Now a big part of my emotional outburst may have been brought on by the fact that she will be turning 5 years old in a week and a half, and that her public showing of affection for her mom has already started to change over this past year. For example, whenever we are around her friends ... she doesn't like me to tag along behind them.

My hug today, made me realize that my "public" hugs will be getting fewer and fewer with time ... but I sure will enjoy all of the ones that she still wants to throw my way!

Well Worth The Wait

Finally, my Disneyland post. We took so many cute pictures and have so many fun things to talk about, that I can't help but feel a little overwhelmed while putting together this post because I don't want to leave anything out.

Chiki & I had never been to Disneyland, and have been talking about taking our kids one day when they get old enough. Well all I can say, is that it was definitely well worth the wait. Not only were Chiki & I going to Disneyland for the first time, but we were going to get to experience it through the eyes of a 4 year old. It was so much fun to see our little princess, get all googly eyed over the "real" princesses!

We had only two days to get in both California Adventure and Disneyland, so we did lots of running around. The first day we decided to take the ladies to the princess lunch. Not only were we able to see ALL of the princesses in one location, but the look on Hannah's face was priceless! She was so excited that she hardly ate any of her food. Olivia made up for that loving every last crumb (ha ha - I think Olivia is still a little too young to realize what DL is all about).

To my surprise, we were able to go on alot of the rides together including The Haunted Mansion & Pirates Of The Caribbean, we watched many parades, saw lots of fireworks, ate lots yummy food, and had many laughs together!

California Adventure was also lots of fun, but nothing like Disneyland. Since it is just across the way you just have to check it out. Plus, that is where all of the Pixar stuff is at. Monsters Inc. has always been a hit in our family, and although the girls got a little scared ... Chiki & I really liked the 3D Bug movie in the Bugs Life area.
